Please feel free to recommend books in the comments – I am especially interested in books about bipolar and schizophrenia, by people who actually have the condition.

I just downloaded Ten Days in a Mad-House. It’s a report from a journalist in the 1800’s on her experience in a mad house. She was sent there undercover. The link has the pdf.

Electroboy is awesome! I actually know Andy, he’s a FB friend of mine, we talk often. I’m considering doing a blog post about him and the book. It was one of the best memoirs about bipolar that I’ve ever read. I could rant and rave all day about Electroboy but I don’t want to bore anyone :)

It wasn’t available on SA’s crappy version of Amazon or I’d have got it – I can’t do foreign transactions.

Where are you at? I have a hardcover copy that he sent to me. The paperback he sent me is signed so I can give that one away.

And, last but not least, a grim Indian guy in a zipped up windbreaker on the Stanford campus where he was working on his Master's degree. He had already earlier cashed out as one of the founders of Paypal! His mom must have told him he wouldn't amount to anything without an edcaoticn.Autually that third founder of YouTube, Jawed Karim, is a bangladeshi muslim not an indian. His mother is german. Both his parents are academics, and I also suspect that your last sentence is probably correct.
